Most Wonderful Time of the Year

That's right - it's the most wonderful time of the year. Not because of changing leaves, pumpkin foods, or cooler weather (although I'm not complaining about any of that.) It's because it's....

community yard sale time!! Yippee!!

I prepared for this wonderful event by getting some money on Friday afternoon - $100, to be exact - and determined that would be my limit for the year. The Mister and I and some friends from the 'hood got up early, and set about the neighborhood looking for treasures.

Behold, I present to you, my loot.

Dining room chairs, which obviously will be reupholstered and painted in the future.

A podium, because the Mister was adamant that he had to have it for his office. Meaning, it's going to be refinished in a nice cherry color.

A spice rack from the 1970's, which I thought was just too cool to pass up.

More chairs - aren't they beautiful?! I actually love that they're already a little distressed.

And some knick-knacks that I was digging. That frame is going to get a makeover with some white paint and land itself in our gallery wall. The blue and white vase is a likely candidate for the built-ins, and the mason jar is also probably going to get sprayed.

And last, but not least...

lamps! The lava lamp is going to live in my office, and the blue and white lamp is going to live in the new living room, once I get that redone.

The grand total? $66.75. The breakdown?

Dining room chairs: $15 bucks a pop

Podium: $5
Spice rack: $1
Black chairs: $25 for the set
Knick-knacks: $1.75 ($1 for the vase, .50 for the framed mirror and .25 for the jar)
Lamps: $4 ($3 for the lava, and $1 for the little guy)

Great loot and almost $35 under budget? I do believe they call that a win.
