Stoopin' It

After giving our front door a much needed ruby-colored face lift, I stepped back and looked at our stoop. Our sad, sad stoop. (And it's not just sad because it was so cloudy and dreary outside.)

Pathetic, isn't it? First, in case you can't tell, those plants are D-E-A-D. See?

Dead as door-nails. Plus, I was no longer diggin' the planters. When I bought them, the door was that dark, almost black, maroon-y color, and the planters added a much-needed pop of color. But with the door sportin' the bright red shade, the planters just looked out of place. Plus, something about the scale seemed off - much too small for the size of the stoop.

So, a rainy afternoon spent in Mecca, also known as Lowe's, brought home these beauts:

Ain't they pretty? I went with simple, white annuals to fill them, since annuals seem to be the only thing I can keep alive around here.

I'm hoping they will flourish and spread out like the ones I planted around my mailbox - since those are the only plants in the history of my life I haven't killed. Either way, I'm loving the new planters. And for my favorite part - the before and after.

Before:

After:

Better scale, better color, better stoop. (Even the sun came out to show its approval!)
