Let Me Upgrade Ya

As you may recall, when we were first contemplating where to put the TV in our family room, we were thinking about putting it over the fireplace. However, closer inspection of the built-ins quickly nixed that idea, so we ended up putting it on our old TV stand in front of the windows.

That left us with this:

We got this old, light/blondish wood TV stand from Target back in the day, when we lived in our small, city apartment. It worked perfectly for that space, and it also worked really well in our townhouse. But back then, it was sportin' a massively old (I'm talking Ebay purchase before sophomore year of college), much smaller television. We brought home this coveted beauty using our saved up wedding money, and quickly realized that it totally dwarfed the little TV stand. We also realized that such a beautiful TV needed a much more stylish home.

But...we're totally cheap. Other things just kept coming up that were higher on the priority list. You know how it goes. Luckily - I have the most awesome co-workers/friends on the planet. Remember the china cabinet in the dining room? Remember how that was a gift from a co-worker? Well - Reba's co-worker strikes again, this time with a TV stand upgrade.

Turns out his family is doing a major overhaul, and one of the many items that ended up coming to live at my house (oh yeah - major foreshadowing alert) was this bad boy.

Five minutes of very easy installation led to much happy dancing around the family room. Not only are we loving the stye aspect of it, it's at a much more comfortable viewing height for the room. (Not to mention the whole tilting/turning aspect. Win!)

So, it's definitely a little upgrade, but we're totally excited. And now, I'm looking at my coffee and end table - both of which are hand-me-downs from my parent's purchased-in-1994 living room set, and both of which are that same light/blondish wood. I'm sensing a refinishing project coming soon.

But for now, I'm going to bask in the excitement of the simple things in life...

...and go watch Chopped on my newly-mounted television.
